Scott Foil 15 di2 Vs focus Cayo 2.0 di2?

Coming up into my 3rd year of being a keen cyclist, purchased a Focus Cayo 105 Ltd road bike which I am very happy with and it has served for the past 18 months. Like to get out at the weekend and do 20-30 miles at least but planning on upping this to 50+ each weekend with a few 100 miler sportives this summer. I now want a new bike, I know I want a Di2 setup just which one.

At first my natural progression was the Focus again, as my current ride has been so good. However I was in my LBS and they had a Scott Foil 15 hanging up which looked stunning. Went straight hope to have a read up on it.

The focus was £2799 now reduced to just over 2k, where as the Scott is £3999 retail (would expect some discount from that).

Would welcome any advice or suggestions..

Cheers

Dave.

Foil no contest. I have 2 now and will happily buy a third when I need it. If you need a 54 Westbrook has a cracking deal: http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/bikes-c5/road-bikes-c18/scott-foil-15-aero-road-bike-compact-20-speed-2012-p194675

If you need a different size talk to the guys at Epic.

  • While the Foil is an excellent race bike I'd suggest it's not ideal for the riding your describing. I'm only going by reviews and don't have first hand experience like Grill but it's reviewed in the latest Cyclist and is described as an uncompromising race bike with a very hard ride?

I put over 1000 miles a month on mine and have ridden it in a 12hr TT, several 200km audaxes, and many centuries. I will be doing both the Bryan Chapman Memorial 600km and the 1400km LEL on them. I don't know what these testers are made of, but it must be smothered in weak-sauce. If ride quality is an issue just run some 25s at a lower PSI...

    Thanks for the comments.

My sensible head said goes for the focus, but that's only really available online. Where as the Scott is available at my LBS so better local support but I don't think it's the sensible option.

Need to talk a deal on the Scott before I can make a decision.

Should I be considering the Scott CR1 Premium Standard 2013 ?

The CR1 has more relaxed geometry and a more compliant ride than the Foil. For the type of riding you'll be doing its a good shout.

I am thinking the same, my current Focus Cayo is a little more relaxed.

Getting close now, the CR1 isn't in stock I don't think. So might be the foil 15 after all. It does look nice in the shop!
