Classifieds best way to get paid and ship

Hi Folks,
what's the best way to get paid for and to ship an item like a set of bars sold via the classifieds?

Bank Transfer or Paypal seem to be the norm.

To ship simply wrap and post. Up to you if you go cheapest method or pay for signed proof etc.

Well if there is an issue you only have the bank to rely on.

Paypal in theory has a disputes process but I have never tested it.

I have bought and sold using both methods and to date have not had issue with either.

One more question (I'm really not very good at this), if using paypal to sell something. Is the best way to do this via a payment request from seller to buyer, or is there some other way that people normally use?

With pay pal you can raise an Invoice, or simply get the buyer/sellers e mail address linked to the pay pal account and send funds.

Remember though if sending money as a "gift" to avoid fees then you have no protection, I therefore tend to add about 10% to the agreed purchase price and pay straight pay pal, thus covering the vendors fees and giving me full protection.

I didn't know about this until recently. I just thought it was a good way to avoid the fees.
