Putting a pannier rack on a Triban 3

Evening all,

Looking for some wisodom (yet again  ) with regards to a pannier rack. I think the bike has the relevant 'holes' in the right places to fit a rack. My main worry however is whether I can fit a rack to the bike and leave the Cruds on there? Also, whether the back brake will get in the way of the top holes?

This is the rack I am eyeing up:

To give you a better idea about whether it will be possible I took the following pics:

With regard to the back brake problem I have seen this item mentioned as a work around:

Thanks as always :)

  • I don't see why the rear brake would pose an issue. I suspect that the Cruds might work with a rack, but since you have eyes why do you use them anyway? Get some SKS. ;)

To be honest I bought them before I knew the Triban had the relevant holes for the SKS's. I went on a bit of a spree on Wiggle (yes, I blame them) before I picked the bike up and saw the Cruds being mentioned around here quite a lot. Looking back this was probably a bit daft. Luckily for me though I haven't got any complaints against the cruds. Bit of a faff getting them on, but since then I have not had any rubbing/issues and they have kept me clean and dry!

Out of curiosity, if I did have SKS's using the holes, would it be possible to get the rack on there?
  • Ah, OK; in that case you are forgiven. Just don't do it again. ;)

They will both fit fine, though; this is the standard configuration.

    I can't promise that I'm afraid :P

Apologies for being dense.... the standard configuration you mention - SKS and rack?
