Hi all, are their any apps or websites that we can all go n and mark our location on, it strikes me that with so many members we must have some like minded bike radar riders just round the corner, it would be nice to meet people from 15 or so miles away and pick up some of their routes

Any ideas

    Just click add new point

I would suggest a general location instead of particular point on street, if any body is near you can search user name on forum

Good idea, found by trial & error that the password requires a capital "B" Bikeradar.
He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!
  • Sadly, it seems that it limits you to two pins only on the free version.

Link is now for a different site, 500 pin limit, should be plenty and is free
  • If you want to log your location for others to see, don't log your EXACT location. £000's of worth of bikes, logged to their address is not a good idea....

Totally agree, if you rob the location I marked, you will get a fiat punto , and a polish squat

I just marked halfway down my road. How is anyone gonna know which is my front door?

They won't, just marking within 5 miles will be enough, it's just to see how far apart we really are

Er that is what the Location bit is for in your profile.

Look under peoples id on the left, some include it, some do not.

Ok......but it's no good for quickly seeing how close people are to you, you have to trawl through everybody's names to see.

Apparently I live in fanny ?! Not that I care, but who added me to the site ?
Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.
Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved

You'll never know, unless someone coughs (wasn't me).

I'm sure Google maps has a feature for this, you can give certain acess to collaborators.

Someone will eventually delete the map, which the account gives access to btw.

Again I k iw it can be deleted, thought it would just be a nice idea, but if people want to muck it up, let them , not a lot I can do about it
  • I find this whole subject interesting, as I am an old git and am always fascinated about the concept of thinking that getting together with people using a map and a computer, or trying to pretend that Facebook 'friends' are real friends, is somehow a meaningful activity. I spend a lot of time networking as part of my job and its so easy to spot those who think that 'relating' to others via a computer is the real thing.

Rather than playing inside on a computer and pretending that dots on a map put by random individuals may mean something, how about picking up a telephone and calling the local cycle club and go and meet some real people?

There's nothing like meeting people in person rather than going through this kind of game next time ?

Because like you, my bike club is full of people who are too opinionated ,and think they are better than everybody else, I'm not look for a new best friend, I'm looking for a like minded person to go riding with, Can I presume your not one if them

What are you doing on a forum? Why aren't you on the phone to your mates talking about cycling?
