Do you have 25mm tyres fitted?

Hi,

I have recently brought some SKS raceblade long (the ones that are like proper mudguards that can be clipped off, not the ones held on by straps)

Ideally, I would like to have 25mm pro4 endurance tyres on, there looks like there is space but the guards are only supposed to fit up to 23mm/

I have tried some spesh 25mm tyres and they just fit, but as spesh is known for being on the large side as far as tyres are concerned Im thinking that 25mm from another brand might be a bit smaller, and fit inside them with a little more space.

I have measured the spesh tyres, they come out as...
Width (at widest point) 28 to 29mm
Height (from edge of rim to perpendicular height of tyre) 23mm
Circumference (edge of rim to edge of rim on the other side) 68mm

I hope that makes sense.

I also measured a Pro 4 23mm
Width 25mm
Height 20mm
Circumference 56

Hopefully, other brands 25mm tyres will be somewhere between those measurments.

Could I ask owners of 25mm tyres ( especially pro4 endurance if there are any!) to do the same measurments so I can see if 25s will fit please?

I would be particularly interested to hear the measurments for GP4000s, Pro4 (in 25mm - Very rare at the moment), Durano Plus, and any other really!

Many thanks to those that take the time to help out!

Paul.

Panaracer 25mm on my winter bike with proper mudgards are no problem.
  • Thanks for the replies, but Im not asking if you can fit 25mm tyre with mudguards, Im asking if owners of 25mm tyres could measure them as I did in the first post so I can get an idea if they will fit with the SKS road racer long mudguards on a bike with tight clearences.

    Ta!
  • Paul, not sure exactly which bit of the tyre is hitting your mudguard, but have you looked at the specialized roubaix 23/25. It's 23 wide, but is a taller tire (height maybe 25 based on a rough measure I just did). So you get the added comfort etc. of a 25, i.e. run at lower pressure etc.

I didn't have a flexible tape measure to do the full circumference, and it's too late / i'm too lazy to go find a piece of string, but hope this helps.
  • My Pro 4 Endurance circumference appears to be c.66mm. Can't measure height/width right now but will do so later.
  • Well, I haven't the specific information that you have asked for , but I have close fitting mudguards on one of my bikes. I started off with 23mm gatorskins and these are fine, but I had a few punctures, so I tried continental GP4000 25mm and they don't fit. I have put specialized armadillo 23/25mm on and these are fine (and armour plated).
  • I have race blade long on a spesh roubaix with GP4000s 25mm. 2-3 mm to spare. when the roads are crappy you can get little bits stuck bit they dislodge after a while.
  • I've found Conti GP 4seasons 25mm to be on the small side, certainly noticeably smaller than GP4000s 25mm. I have a feeling Vittorias generally come up small as well. The Open Pave 24mm is a really nice tyre if you can stomach the cost and the green stripe.

I have been reading the reviews and they really seem good. Unfortunaly, neither of the bikes they will go on would match with the green, although I supose I could try and pull off the "I did the spring classics on these" hardman look... on my rides around Wolverhampton.
