Halfords Road Bike Prices

Just been browsing the bikes on Halfords website and I was shocked at how the prices have rocketed. My Boardman Road Comp was £699 last September, now £949! The Carrera TdF was £300 a few months ago (so I read on another thread), now £599.
Anyone else think this is a bit crazy? Do they just do this for a few months so that they can legally call lower prices later a "sale"?
Cheers,
MarkP

It's cos now they got Pinarello, they gone upmarket, innit?0

They will be back down, as none would pay 599 for a tdf. (mine was 264 on a bank holiday). I guess it is for the "sale" later aspect.0

Guessing they are expecting huge demand from those middle class wankertypes who will throw money at their new hobby.0

Of course - New Year resolutions and all the people starting out on those short-lived fitness regimes!Boardman Road Comp - OK, I went to Halfords

Appears that they don't have to post a price "legally" for some time before they can claim a discount for "sale" purposes.
Weekend before Christmas I was browsing for prices on the Thule 591 bike carrier. Halfords had it listed at £82.95 on the Sunday. Opened my emails on the Monday morning to find a special 1 day offer from Halfords of 10% discount on all web prices for goods ordered that day.
Clicked through to the ad for the Thule 591 and - hey presto - the price was now listed as £91.99. When the 10% discount was applied it worked out 16p cheaper than if I'd ordered it the day before.
So be very sceptical about any RRP listed particularly at Halfords - shop around to other outlets where you can (bit more of a problem with Boardman bikes).
I ended up getting the Thule carrier from Ford Parts via Sandicliffe a local Ford franchise - £56 - result0
