My old stumpjumper is well overdue for a new chain and possibly new cassette, I bought it second hand and I've had it 9 years now. I have a big ride coming up soon, 4 days, 220 miles, so i thought I'd better splash out on a new chain.
I don't know where to start with all the choice out there.
Its a 7-speed cassette. What do you recommend?

    One that fits!

You will need a new cassette, check what type you got - freehub or free wheel.

KMC chain, whatever 7 speed cassette (or freewheel) is cheapest.

I got a shimano hg 20 for my daughter's bike for 12 quid. Think the alvio cassette is even less.

aThis is probably a real Newb Q: are the chains all the same length? A lot I've seen are specific to 8/9/10 speed cassettes. I assume you can still get 7-speed ones, guess they must just be a bit wider!

How about cassettes - is HG41 11/28 ok? I don't know the product range or ranking, but theres plenty on the 'bay for £12 - £15.
