Hello I've been a mountain biker for over 15 years now and in the past year I've got the road bug. My current ride is a Cannondale Synapse and I'm looking to upgrade to either:-

Cannondale Supersix Ultegra (my preferred choice)
Or
Trek Mondone 4.9

I originally wanted the supersix with the Di2 setup but you only get that on the Evo spec at an extra grand. The TRek come with the Di2 option.

So do I go for the Supersix with better frame, forks, wheel set or the Trek and Di2?..... H E L P!!!!!!

Thanks in advance Joe :@)

I'd certainly sacrifice a better performing bike over a Di2 groupset. The CAD Evo looks amazing.

Generally accepted that it is wisest to go for the good frame and forks.

DI2 will come down in price and you can upgrade the group then 8)

Against the tide, but having had a go on a Di2 equipped bike, I'd go with that. Whilst it is wisest to go with the better frame and forks, I reckon, 2-3 years later you'll want a new bike or frame anyway. So, instead of then upgrading the groupset, you could upgrade the frame. Just a suggestion. I initially thought electric groupsets were stupid but I very much enjoy the one I rode, which also was a Trek Madone 4.9, it was lovely.

Also , many people ride bikes that are well above what they actually need, so would one really notice the benefits of a better frame that much? The Trek will be fine for an experienced road rider, let alone someone who is just into road cycling. So, my humble opinion is you'll notice the Di2 much more than the better frame.

Can't you get the SuperSix Ultegra and get a Ui2 upgrade kit?

    Road - Dolan Preffisio
    MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.
  • Which bank did you rob?
the deeper the section the deeper the pleasure.
  • @declan1, I thought the same but apparently you can get the Di2 on the 2012 frame which is no longer available, some suppliers have old stock but none in 58cm.

My advice is don't refer to a bicycle as a 'steed'.
  • Thanks for the advice guys I'm swaying towards the Cannondale I'm getting a chance to test ride them both on the 25th as long s the dale makes it into the country... :D
