Have a look in Bikepedia for model, look at Ebay finished auction results etc for value.

Looks like it's a bit small for whoever was riding it. Looong layback post.

Doesn't look right. The frame looks painted, they never did a painted black S-Works M5. From 2004 onwards (the 2003 one was red painted or black ano with outline decals) they had carbon upper links, and that looks a little like it's the forged alu one, which means it's not an S-Works. It should also say "Epic" on the inside of the chain stays, not FSR.

That said... the 2005 was black ano with white decals like that, so it could be a 2005, but I'm not convinced it's actually an S-Works.

If you can get your hands on it the little cross brace from the top tube/seat tube was tubular in 2003, had a small cut out underneath in 2004 and was more of an 'n' section piece from 2006 onwards.

njee20 = worked in one of the biggest S-Works dealers in the country, regularly rode with guys from Spesh and has owned 3 S-Works Epics

    FTFY ;-)

But yes, I am pretty geeky when it comes to things like that, Epics particularly for some reason!

Njee, look like bosses for V-brake posts on the rear stays which would make it older than 2008?

Looks painted, not anodised, not always conclusive but the depth of shine looks wrong.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Yes it's definitely older than 2008 - they only did carbon ones in 2007/08, and both came with Specialized AFR shocks.

My money is on 2005 non S-Works.
