I hope I don't sound daft but , is there different types of jockey wheels ? actual thickness / diameter / teeth . My gears dont change smooth ( dura ace RD-7700 rear mech ) and no matter how much faffin with adjustments ( believe you me i've tried) and new cables they always seem to miss or slip the odd gear and it can friggin hurt when you come out the saddle and slip a gear.
I looked at the jockey wheels and there's an awful lot of play, would this be the reason ? or would it be the spring not quite having the pulling power to move the mech smooth ?.

Sounds just like a worn chain and/or cassette - how old is it and have you actually checked the chain wear with the right tool ?0

I replaced both chain and cassette late summer so I'm thinking they'll be fine. My thinking was that if there's too much sideways plays from the jockey wheel or the spring on the rear mech was a bit duff it not shift as clean but I don't know much about them tbh.
I've given it a proper clean and greasing and seems fine when I adjust it while its on the stand but the moment i ride within a day or two its back slipping. frustrating ain't the word. I'm tempted just buy a new rear mech and try that.0 -
Theres meant to be play in the jockey wheel. I doubt its that.0

I recently had an issue with slipping gears, and only thing I could find was loads of play on the jockey wheels.
Replaced them with BBB one's, hardly any play and no more slipping gear problems 8)
For the sake of a few quid, I would replace the jockey wheels firstShare The Road Event http://www.sharetheroadride.co.uk

Campagnolo has different tooth spacing to lesser gears - do you have the right jockeys?http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Shimano top jockey wheel has play built into it.
My DA never miss a beat. Is it something to do with the outer cables not being bedded into cable stops ?0
