Hi all,

I got myself a road bike back in August having been on the MTB for quite a few years, but now get some some achy knees which I've never had before. Just wondered how close your knees get to the top tube when you're cycling? Mine get pretty close, and sometimes brush the top tube - I'm wondering if my feet are pointing too far outwards which pushes the knees in hence causing my problems?

I'm heading north with both bikes to see Adrian Timmis for a bike fit in mid Feb, and that should sort everything out, but was still curious!

Ta.

The most common causes of knee pain is pushing too big a gear, what's your cadence like?

Your knees certainly shouldn't be hitting the top tube bit it very much depends on your body shape. Are you using clipless pedals? If you are then the cleats might be in the wrong position, Adrian will sort that out.

There can be a lot of causes, it depends on your body shape and gait.
