Increasing past miles without doing anything useful

Went out, and went further than before, was there a point, did it achieve anything? :D
my isetta is a 300cc bike

    I went about 5 miles to pick up a van - wind & rain, so not particulary enjoyable but enjoyable in a way, if you know what I mean.
