very nice classic with new equipment! respect!0

Love it, love it! Even with Shimano, it's only really the shifters I'd change (personally).0

Thanks Chap. It suits me well. I've had it a few years, and just change bits to try and improve it as required, and when finances allow. Next change will be the brakes I think, but not reall sure to what. Most likely some Ultegra.
The other thing I need to sort is some bottle cages. Keep looking around, and coming back to the Elite Gels, so will likely get some of them. Any other options?....like it's golden0 -

I'd bought some of the PlanetX ti/carbon qr's, but just didn't feel confident in them, and they didn't really suit the bike, so an hour or so with some metal polish & some old Deore qr's looked like this. Pretty happy with the results.

Ditto - plus the forks. Too many beautiful steel Colnagos marred by the awkward looking straight forks (always looks to me like the bike has been in a head on and the repairer got carried away pulling the forks back into line). They look so much better with the curved forks IMHO.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I know what you mean by the forks, though i remember well when straight forks became 'the thing' so I don't feel quite the same.
Great job on the quick releases!0 -
Any thoughts on Bottle Cages?....like it's golden0

Any thoughts on Bottle Cages?
Well , the Elite gels look OK (though they always break for me), but the Inox version is nicer. Blackburn do a cheaper and simpler version called the Chicane (about £12 for Chainreaction cycles).0 -

How about King Cage Stainless Steel. Nice and simple, will suit the chrome detail.
Or the Arundel Stainless steel cage would look good, is a little different and is well rated.
Beautiful frame, I have always been a fan of these. I would love to own one myself one day.0 -

Reeeeeally want a Colnago now, thanks for that. Fantastic bike, would love to see it with deep rims.0

I spent a long time looking at deep rims, and a light(er) weight wheel build, but decided against it.
Firstly I wanted an all round wheelset i could use day in day out, & didn't want to be swapping brakeblocks around between wheels as weather / conditions changed.
Secondly, the look.I know deep rims on steel, traditional frames can look kinda foxy, but i'm a traditionalist at heart. It was never going to be a retro faithful build, but wanted to keep it in keeping.
I would like another wheelset to put on for 'best', but will most likely be a lightweight tubular set. We'll see.
Thanks for the comments, glad people like it. I know I do!....like it's golden0 -

I have a set of Ambrosio crono, the rims weigh 360 grams each and come as 28 H... they have an 80 Kg weight limit, which I think is nonsense... the set is built with DT comp and Dt rev on Mavic 501 hubs... it is very light, probably around 1500 grams, yet it can be used any day of the week.. I only use it on sunny days, but it's because of the tubulars, rather than the rims. Mavic Reflex are very similar, but only come at 32 H. I think these are pretty much the only light alloy tubular rims left that might suit a period buildleft the forum March 20230 -
Italian bikes with Shimano are never a bad thing. This frame is a thing of beauty!0

Couple of updated shots, with new tyres.

Great 'bars, those are beautiful and fit the era of the bike perfectly. Love the tyres as well.
Stems and seatposts should match colour-wise. How about a silver Thompson?When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -

Lovely frame, but sorry the shifters look hideous, sorry just my opinion, not just because they are Shimano, but because they look awkward.
I put a set of Neutron Ultras on my Master and they are beautiful and sub 1500gms.
There are a few Masters on Fleabay that are being advertised with deep dish and I have to admit they look really aggressive, I might put a set on mine and see how they ride.0 -

Don't, got one from Wiggle and sent it straight back. Looks really cheap and not the same quality as the black for some reason.
Stick with black bar tape or perhaps some Eleganza with fancy stitching.

A beautiful bit of kit on the whole but gotta chime in on those shifters, they're an abomination. Not so much the product themselves but the angle really makes them appear bulky and awkward, if the tops were close to horizontal the look would be much improved.0
