Do these use the same type of connector as Smarts? I have a couple of the 0.5W Smart LED ones and one has gone faulty, Pharrts look similar and only £2.50 for the rear. Another phaart model has dual 0.5W LED's. The front is only a fiver brackets are usually £2.50.

  • Your right to think this as they look very similar - I did as well?

However they're not compatible. I have loads of rear Smart lights but they didn't fit the same bracket as Phaart rear from Planet-X.

Just for info, PDW lights share the same rear brackets as Smart as well. ( I have PDW as well).

Odd; I have a few Smart lights and brackets, and the Phaart lights (was it Beep and Booster, like the old Blue Peter Annual characters?) bought last month @ £2.50 per, fit fine. Very happy with them.

+1. I was swapping lights around on the back of my bike last weekend. The Phaart lights fitted fine (with a positve click) in the bracket for the Smart R2 I have, as did the Smart in the Phaart bracket. The molded clips on the back of the Phaart lights are significantly more positive than the Smart R2. I was going to put it on the back of my Topeak Aero Wedge but put one of the Bleeps on instead as I thought it was less likely to jump off (I've already lost a light that way).

Absolute bargain. Bought an extra couple just after Xmas to pad an order for gloves and xl neoprene overshoes over Planet-X's free shipping threshold. Two Phaart Bleeps effectively cost me £1.

I stand corrected, apologies. I initially tested using the Smart Carrier bracket on the back of my pannier rack. It doesn't fit on this, no positive click. (but it does work on the rear seatpost bracket)

Just thought i'd resurrect this as I'm also looking at a set of Phaarts or Smart lights for the commute.

Just bought a winter bike so plan on using it for work, of which the majority of roads are lit. There is a few miles however of unlit road, so whilst getting plenty of reflective items shouldnt be a problem, I'm just wondering about lights?

I've already got a set of Cateye strap on lights which are great for flashing modes and attracting the attention, but I want to add to that to increase visibility of both seeing and being seen.

Smart Lunar 35 lux is currently going for £16 on Planet X

Planet X seem to do their own copy, but is it as good and would 2 be better than 1 Smart?

Phaart Bleeps at £2.50, which if they are as good as the RSPs that they copy then they are a very bright rear light.

These wont be used for off-road use, but like I said, If I go the long way home, then theres a few miles unlit. I dont want something with a separate battery pack so MTB style kits are out.

If anyone can shed any light (pun intended  ) then please let me know.

In my opinion, the Phaart rear lights are both a bargain @ £2.50 ea. & sufficient for unlit roads. I have both the 35Lux smart front and the Phaart copy; they're pretty similar in output, but neither is suitable for lighting the way on an unlit road (unless you're walking) & I use one on flash mode in conjunction with a more powerful light on steady beam.

(Additionally, the mount for the front Phaart is pretty awful- would recommend using a Smart one instead.)

Mine arrived. Ordered two of the 0.5W x 2 rear LED, and the copy of the smart 35W model.

Quality of the plastic isn't as high as the Smarts. But for 2-3x less, still a bargain. The mount for the front isn't much lower in quality than the smarts, although the rear bracket is (worm strap thing) but again for £2.50 more than acceptable. I agree one or two fronts not suitable for unlit roads, but for lit roads or emergency backup, can't complain. I'm using hope vision 4 with smart 35lux /pharrt £5 model, with one phart 0.5x2 and a smart 0.5W for rear. Have a few bikes so need brackets, and for the price, it's more economical to buy the lights, than just buying the brackets.

The Phaart Aeon 3 Watt LED Front Light is a great light to make you more visible, not so great to see with on otherwise unlit roads.

As DrLex and Father Jack, I am using the Phaart Aeon in conjunction with a more powerful light (MJ-808 clone like this one). I use mine on flash replacing an Ultrafire 501B whose only flash mode is an epilepsy-inducing strobe.

As DrLex points out, the mount supplied with the Aeon could be better, especially on oversize bars. Have a look a this post and this follow-up post for further details.

    Best regards
