Hi All

I'm looking for a bit of input into the bike shops in the Alderley Edge area.... any recommendations? Is there one in Alderley Edge itself (and has there ever been)?

Cheers

Johnny

No bike shop as far as I am aware, as above you have Royles in wilmslow

There is also rick green cycles nearby also
  • Cheers for the input - I'm actually looking at potential places for a new road specific bike shop, and note that Alderley Edge (which features on so many of Cheshires finer rides) doesnt actually have one!

  • It does indeed, and I have used them a few times. I like them - their mechanic is brilliant - but they can be expensive and seem to have more of an MTB slant.

I'm looking throughout Cheshire and South Manchester.

Off the top of my head -
Sportive Nation in Hazel Grove - Big road selection. Sell Colnago, Felt, Bianchi and Castelli which is a biggie.
Rick Greens Handforth- small friendly shop, excellent wheelbuilder.
Cycle Centre Congleton- sell pretty much everything Giant and Specialized plus a good MTB range.

All including Royles will do a deal...

Just because there isn't one you need to question whether there is a need for one, with so many other good well established shops in the area I would not think of that location as needing one.

If your looking for a gap then there is nothing in the peak district around Buxton for example nor is there anything in Macclesfield now
  • Thanks TMG.... what about Peak Cycle Sport in Macclesfield?

Are you setting one up or just in need of one ?
  • Exploring options in setting up. I'm mobile/web at the moment and exploring bricks and mortar.

Forgot about them, but as I understand them they are more geared towards the sport of cycling, so doing bike set ups etc. dont seem to have a huge range of bikes/apparel on offer nor do they offer repair/servicing as far as I am aware, not a shop I consider if I need anything and have not been in there new shop in Macc. I live near Buxton, work in Macc and use either Rick Green or Royles as there isn't anything else around as good as them, there is 18 bikes in Hope which I use for my MTB and they are excellent but in my opinion there is a real gap for a good road bike specific shop in the peaks. In terms of location if I had the desire to set something up then I would consider somewhere like Hathersage.
  • Apparently they do: http://www.peakcyclesport.com/workshop/

However I am interested in exploring the Peaks option... cheers for the input!

Couldn't agree more Rick Greens is a nice family run shop, Paul is extremely good wheel builder too
