After having this for over a year I think it's about time I did a post. It's changed a fair bit over that year and probably will in the near future but at the moment it look like this:

p4pb9032367.jpg

Specs are:

Frame: Medium Marin Wolf Ridge with a Fox RP23 shock
Forks: Fox Float 32 RL 2009
Bars: Kore OCD cut down to 780mm
Stem: 60mm Truvativ AKA AM
Headset: Hope
Grips: Superstar Supagripa, looking to probably change these to ODI Rogue's in the near future though.
Front Brake: This changes, usually it's the Shimano Saint M820 (the new short levered model which is amazing!) but when the Rocky is being used around the same time it's the old Saint M810. The M820's are technically the Rocky's which is why the M810's have the matching red hoses and the M820's don't, not that you can tell in the picture.
Front disc: 203mm Shimano RT76
Rear Brake: Same story as the front, usually a Shimano Saint M820 but sometimes an M810
Rear Disc: 160mm Formula Oro rotor.
Shifter: Shimano XTR 10 speed
Cables: Red Shimano SP41 outer with whatever inner cables came with the shifter and seatpost.
Front Mech: Got rid of it a while back and have no plans to fit it again.
Rear Mech: Shimano XT
Chain Device: Limited Edition red E Thirteen SRS+
Seat: Nukeproof
Seat Post: KS Lev, great when it works but mine seems to be the only one in the world which is having some issues
Seat Post Clamp: Some random red bolted one.
Cranks: Race Face Atlas, only because they didn't fit the Rocky after the 224 and it was a shame to see them go to waste.
Chainring: 34t Raceface
Chain: KMC X10 93
Cassette: 11-36t Shimano XT
Pedals: Changes between Wellgo MG1's with some stupidly long pins when I use flats (usually racing or more technical natural riding) and Shimano DX M647 clipless pedals for razzing around Glentress which is what I seem to do most.
Bottom Bracket: Shimano XTR
Front Wheel: Hope Hoops Pro II Evo with Stans Flow EX rim
Front Tyre: Nearly always a 2.3 Black Chili Continental Baron, really awesome all round tyre.
Back Wheel: Hope Pro II Evo with Nukeproof rim (rebadged Sun Ringle MTX29)
Back Tyre: Changes between a 2.25 Maxxis Crossmark and a 2.3 Black Chili Continental Baron depending on what I'm riding or if I can be bothered changing tyres.

Would be nice if the frame was a bit lighter but at least I know I'm not going to break it and I do wish I had gone for a large now, the Medium is a little short so if anyone is looking to swap and Medium for their Large get in touch, I might just be interested.

Well there's been a lot of changes done to this as predicted. New spec is:

Frame: Medium Marin Wolf Ridge with a Fox RP23 shock
    Forks: Rockshox Revelation RCT3 2014
    Bars: Raceface Sixc 785mm
    Stem: 60mm Truvativ AKA AM
    Headset: Hope
    Grips: ODI Rogue
Front Brake: Shimano XTR Trail lever with Saint M820 caliper.
    Front disc: 180mm Ashima Airotor
    Rear Brake: Shimano Deore M615
    Rear Disc: 160mm Avid G3CS
    Shifter: Shimano XTR 10 speed
Cables: Red Shimano SP41 outer with XTR inner cables
    Rear Mech: Shimano Zee
Chain Device: Limited Edition red E Thirteen SRS+
    Seat: Nukeproof
    Seat Post: KS Lev
Seat Post Clamp: Some random red bolted one.
Cranks: Shimano SLX, the Atlas's broke :(
    Chainring: 32t E Thirteen
    Chain: KMC X10 93
    Cassette: 11-36t Shimano XT
Pedals: Never stays the same twice
    Bottom Bracket: Shimano XTR
Front Wheel: Hope Hoops Pro II Evo with Stans Flow EX rim
Front Tyre: Either a 2.3 Specialized Butcher Control or a 2.3 Continental Baron Black Chili
Back Wheel: Hope Pro II Evo with Stans Flow EX rim
Back Tyre: Either a 2.25 Maxxis Crossmark or a 2.3 Black Chili Continental Baron

Fully tubeless now. A real PITA sometimes to set up but so worth it out on the trails.

    And of course a picture:

  • Nice bike. I've got the attack trail which is almost the same. Under rated in my opinion. What sort of riding do you do?

Pretty much a bit of everything from razzing around Glentress to the natural and downhill trails at Innerleithen.

Been playing around with one of those magical narrow wide rings for the past few rides. This one is the 32t off the Kinesis. Just waiting for the 30t to come back in stock and I've already replaced the E Thirteen guide and bash with a Blackspire Bruiser bashguard.

Have to admit I was very surprised to find it actually worked perfectly. Only dropped the chain once on a pretty fast rocky section when I had turned the clutch off and was purposefully trying to drop it (back pedalling etc.). Bike is almost completely silent now and dropped about a quarter of a pound in weight from the full guide.
  • Hi there , bike looks amazing. One question , did the rockshox revelations come with a 1 1/8th steerer ? I would love to do the same but didn't think them came with anything but a tapered steerer ?

You can get new Revs with 1 1/8" steerer, not just tapered. Its pikes that only come with tapered as far as I am aware. See link :)

Take a look at Merlin too, I ordered a set of 2013 revs with 1 1/8th steerer for my trance from there, and they sent a 2014 set with the black stanchions etc. they're not RT3 but the more basic RL and OEM so no shock pump included etc but at £280 I can't complain.

Yes the Revs have a 1 1/8th steerer. If you can, spend the extra on the RCT3's. They're seriously good.
