elevation from google map?

does anyone know how to get elevation information from a predefined route on google maps?

    Not sure, but I usually put the route into somewhere like mapmyride when looking for elevation info.

    Its possible in google earth, not to sure in google maps.

    Cool I have Google earth installed. Just want to see the general.profile of a ride first so I roughly.know where to expect the hilly bits :). Thanks

    No, it's not possible in google maps at the moment, but if you've created a route in google maps you can export them to google earth and then view the profile of that route as per the picture above. you don't need to recreate your route.

    As above, I map my routes in either Mapmyride.com or at bikehike.co.uk - you can see gradients and elevation profiles. Then you can download them if you want.
