Setting up a road bike

I've never really paid much attention to the setup of my bike, apart from a few tweaks where required. I am contemplating actually getting a proper fit on the bike, but before shelling out ££ I wondered if there was an online guide I could follow?

it get's a little uncomfortable after 60 odd miles but is otherwise OK, I am also coming from the stance of getting the most efficient position and best power output
