Is the front fork the wrong way round? You must have legs made of steel!0

Is the front fork the wrong way round?
They're supposed to be like that, as he said it's a stayer (motor paced) bike.0 -
Its not as bad as you think to get the gear going behind the motorbike!0

Did that chainring come from an ex ONCE rider? :-) That looks mad, what sort of speeds can you get up to on it?0

I wasn't familiar with these either but this could shed a bit of light:

Thanks paul. Seems a wee bit dangerous just to get a few inches closer to the derny0

I have 65-68 tooth chainrings
Depending on the track you can go over 100kph
On the European championships track, speeds can reach 110kph+0 -
Blimey, that must be quite a rush! It's nice to hear about some of the less usual cycling disciplins, I was looking at the Bordeaux–Paris motor paced race a while back but couldn't find to much info on it.0

I have no idea what it is but its freakin' cool.
And that black and white clip on the link: nutter. Absolute nutter. How cool.0 -
Is that a roller on the back of the derny? Is the gorilla tired yet?0

Here is a better link for you. It explains everything.
A derny is a small moped style motorbike that you would see used in the kierins at the olympics. The stayers motor bikes are big BMW motors with rollers on the back.
Heres me in action in Berlin....0 -

Yeh forks are backwards to get the riders as close to the motorbike as possible, but also gives a little bit of flex when hitting the roller0 -
