Lapierre X-Control 310 - new parts and pics

Hi all,
Thought i would post a photo of my new bike, Lapierre X-Control 310. Only really taken it out on the roads with the kids at the moment, but i am looking forward to taking it for a spin once my mates Canyon Nerve shows up. The bike looks much better in the flesh and rides like a dream. Will be upgrading bits shortly once i have ridden it a few times, from reviews i have read the rear shock is meant to be pony (sure its more than good enough for me) Also not sure about the tyres, so any recomendations for tyres to suit the Forest of Dean and Cotswold trails? I would like to run tubeless if possible so i guess i need to buy some kind of rim conversion kit like Stans? If so do i need a specific tyre?

Also by looking at the components you have a good mix of Xt and slx, nowt wrong with that and not a lot to upgrade

Here are some more pictures if you are interested. The only thing i have done to it so far is replace the rotor bolts for anodised blue ones and fitted my dropper post couple more cosmertic tidy ups with some anodised bolts and she will look really sweet, i think!

The tyres are Continental Race King 2.2

Be interested to here peoples thoughts especially around the tyres, going tubeless and rear shock, which at the moment is Lapierres own brand version which is where the bike fell down on reviews.

Do you have a list of specs? If she feels good to you and can handle what you throw at her then personally I wouldn't worry too much about upgrades. Looks like a very nice piece of kit, the colour scheme of the frame is very similiar to my new Yeti.

I really want to go tubeless, so would the best move be to swap the Fulcrums for a tubeless ready wheelset or convert them with a stans kit? Is it really worth the effort? From the pros and cons i have read it certainly seems to be. I had no problems with the Bontragers running tubeless on my old Orange.

So i have ordered a Stands No Tubes kit, to convert my current wheels. I am thinking i may need new tyres so any recomendations would be welcome

I am assuming these are OEM tyres. I know the racesport versions are tubeless ready. Not sure about these. Personally id give them a go and see what happens. It could take a couple of days wiggling and laying flat for them to seal but far cheaper than buying new tyres for the sake of a little more sealant.

Well that was a pain in the aris! Got my Stans no tubes kit, but cannot get the tyres to bead even with a compressor. I just dont htink its going to happen. So if i buy a new set of boots. Will any set of 'Tubeless Ready' tyres do the trick? If so any tips on a set that would work well on Cotswold/Forest of dean trails?

Right, just bought a Fox RP2 off the bay to upgrade the standard Lapierre rear shock. Will post some more pictures when its fitted. Had a great run in the Forest of Dean yesterday. Was a little chilly to say the least! Not sure if the temperature was having an effect on the brakes but i felt a little under braked on some of the decents. Not spongy, just a bit light weight. Would upgrading the rotors to some larger ones help? Maybe some better pads? Anyone got anty thoughts on the standard Formula brakes fitted to X-Control 310's as standard? Also anyone got any recommendations as to some better pads over and above the standard fitment?

Formular RX are good, may be worth swapping to sintered pads in shitty conditions, but first off I'd look at putting a 180mm disc on the front (or both ends, but many people run +20 over the rear on the front).

That was my toughts exactly. I have not had any problem on some of my smaller local trails but on some of the longer downhill legs the brakes seemed to lack a bit. I am 88kg mind and it was bloody cold and wet so i can forgive them a little. I will upgrade the front and rear rotor and fit some better pads to see how that works. I am also thinking of changing my set up to 2x10. I just dont think i will ever use the big sprocket. I just seem to sit on the middle ring.

Right a made a few changes to the Lapierre recently and a few more brewing away so more photos shortly. First off i have upgraded the rear shock to a Fox RP2 with Pro Pedal. The standard shock is the only item that seems to get luke warm reviews with the bike. The propedal fuctionn really helps on long climbs (i need all the help i can get) I have also upgraded to Easton Monkey XC carbon bars. However the Red and yellow grphics clash with the colour of the bike so i need to find away of covering these up (anyone know who can make replacements in blue and white) The super comfy standard saddle has been swapped for a matching blue and white Fizik Tundra which is very uncofortable but looks good.... I am also in the process of upgrading the wheels to ZTR Olympics with Blue hope XC hubs, So if anyone wants a set of lightly used Fulcrum Red Metal 10's give me a shout. Over the next few weeks i will increase the front rotor size to 180 to help stop my fat arse and need a few tips on what pad set to change too as the OEM pads seem shite. I am also going to bin the big ring for a Blue hope bash guard and fiddle with my chainring sizes. i spend most of my time in the middle ring and when i drop to the granny i find it too high (is that the right way round) gearing. Really enjoying the bike. It eats hills (only held back by my legs) and is controled and comfortable on fast decents.

So thought i would update my thread as the wheels and other bits are now fitted. Not ridden the bike with the new bits on yet, other than the rear shock which is better than the standard Lapierre model. Only because of its propedal function. Also the new bars are spot on superlight and stiff, however the Easton graphics look gash! I need to get some made in white and blue..

So to update over standard spec and the latest additions:
*Rear Shock replaced with Fox RP2 with Pro pedal
* Wheels replaced with Hope XC hubs and ZTR Olympic rims laced with DT Competition spokes in black. Titanium Skewers and Notubes tubeless kit. Wrapped in Hutchinson Toro tubeless tyres.
*Standard bars swapped for Easton Monkey lite Carbon flavour
* Seat post swapped for Crank Bros Joplin dropper
* Saddle changed to Fizik Tundra (the most uncomfortable saddle in the world...Almost) but looks trick as colour matches perfectly
*Rotors upgraded to superstars floaters 180mm ith blue titanium rotor bolts

Next mod is goign to be some new pedals. Thinking about getting some anodised blue ones. Will this be too much Blue?? Also i am going to convert to 2x10 speed with Bash ring i think.

just a quick pic of this weekends mods.

I ordered some matching graphics/decals for my ZTR's. The standard Notubes red and black clashes with the bike frame colour. I have also bought a Selle Italia Sl XC saddle. As much as i love the look of my Fizik Tundra, my delicate ass hates it. I will stick some more photos up once i have fitted the bits later today.

Right,
Finally finished adding some new bits to the 310. I have upgraded the seat post to a Reverb and fitted the saddle and colour coded rim decals. Next up is going to be new grips, and stem will be looking at going for a 2x10 set up as well.

Thanks for the comments, sadly not the bars still have red and yellow decals. I think I may have to buy a different set as they ruin the look of the bike anyone got any recommendations as to bars that would suit the bikes colours. Must be carbon.

Just about finished now, gave up on finding some replacement bars for the time being.
Some final updates:
* Thomson Stem fitted with blue faceplate and top cap
*Hope Bash and chainset converted to double from tripple
*Bionicon chain tensioner fitted
* Blue Lock ring (biggest waste of money as you cant see it)
* Nuke proof locking grips fitted as i had worn the originals out!

Really happy with how she rides, climbs like mad and decends well. Now tempted to sell her and buy something with a little more travel, but still pondering on what to buy if to change at all.

If you want something with a little more travel but still want to stick with Lapierre then the Spicy and Zesty are really good bikes too. The Zesty handles very nicely (IMO) on the rough stuff.

Hi mate recently purchased a 2nd hand bike the same as yours looking to upgrade the rear shock what shock have you put on yours and what size etc or any other recommendations would be great
