Giro Aeon Helmet - Livestrong 2012 i like that thankyou0

I have a Kask and like it a lot. It's a K-10 and I bought it at reduced price, but I'd buy again, and I really like the look of the Mojito.0

I had a cheap and nasty one from Halfords when I started, upgraded to a lovely KASK unit recently and the difference is huge. The KASK is so much lighter, tighter fitting and better strap for comfort.0

Having tried 20+ lids the Kask Mojito won hands down. But just like shoes you need to try them first.Yellow is the new Black.0

I swapped to a KASK K10 from Ribble .well priced.... comfy.. light enough .. can get winter cap under it as well.ok .it is wider to look at than lets say a Spesh Prevail which in Omega Pharma colours was looking at but £60 more? nah ..
oh yes the chin straps are deemed washable which usually after 6 months work is an absolute necessity.0 -

I got that one too after seeing they were £71.99
The matt black + red one was about the only one left in a medium that wasn't too flashy.
Still expensive for a helmet but for this helmet... cheap!
You're basically getting an elite level helmet.
Mine arrived today, what can I say, its a helmet, but its very light.
My sisters MET is really almost as good and it was £40. Its just not "quite" as ventilated and not "quite" as light but it is close (235g compared to 190g for the Aeon)
As usual you're paying (if its the RRP price) £200 for a helmet that is slightly more vented and slightly lighter. Well isn't that the case with everything.
What I am trying to say is those £6.99 ones have about 20% of the venting the Aeon has and yet a £40 MET has about 80% of the venting the Aeon has. I actually prefer the look of the MET but I had to get what I got with the Aeon.
I should have got the Livestrong one but I didn't notice it until I ordered the matt black/red one.
Anyway with the recent stuff about Lance I am not sure I want to cycle around wearing his name. I still think he was the best of the dopers and therefore the best, but I digress...
For a helmet suggestion I would say one of the £40 ones. You really don't have to spend more. Loads at that price look the same as all the expensive ones.

Try some on and find a good fit for your head.0

many helmets reviewed in C+ this month to give you a steer - but decision should be based on fit.
I ended up with a Specialised Echelon (at the cheaper end of the scale) because it just fitted so well (not sure what this says about the shape of my head...)Sensa Giulia 1050 -

Me too, the turquoise version. At that price I couldn't say no, although I think they're back up to about £100-£110 now.
My old Met helmet is over 10 years old and the Aeon is a good 100g lighter and more importantly is far more comfortable to wear and appears to have better ventilation, but I won't find out until it gets really warm.
You can't beat a few new cycling gadgets to kick start the new yearStill trying to convince the missus of the n+1 rule...!0 -
I just got the Specialized Echelon II 2013. Been riding for two years come April and had just have to have a new helmet. I love it!!! It's so light compared to my cheap £15 Decathlon Bell helmet. Along with the fit its just perfect with the strap and comfort. £50.Ride Safe! Keep Safe!

The most important thing of all, and then give your LBS the chance to price match, before giving your cash to a Chain Reaction or a Wiggle. Soon there won't be any local bike shops if everyone buys cheap from some warehouse (often staffed by customer service people who absolutely nothing about the goods they are selling!)0
