Hi after a 15 year absence competitive cycling, and after a lot of research (previous post, which I must say had little response......I realize now this topic has probably had its fair share of debate) Ive gone for a Cannondale supersix 2012 105 with a pair of Kyrium elite s wheels for £1650. Deal?
Looking forward to getting on the road again.
Any advice on pedals?

are the elites after market upgrade or shop upgrade from the standard Aksium? Seems a just a tiny tad high for a Supersix 105 + elite if the Aksium is striped and sold off probably about £100 in it.

you went for the right thing there upgraded the wheels, instead of Elites, might consider RS80 which is comparable and slightly cheaper than elites. will be more aero than elites too.

clipless ones have a look at the bikeradar's buying advice...good range of stuff there.

i am gonna take the RS80 back and give you Ultegra 6700 wheelset for £225 that's almost £200 cheaper than Elites...with your bike costing around £1350 and flogging the Aksium off for £150 (ebay seems to be the place to flog off Maivc new wheels as they fetch almost the same price as online retailers :o), your bike should be less than £1500

  • The elites were the 2013 S? couldn't find them any cheaper than£449. Thought I would only get 150 for the ASKIUMS on ebay, then theres the hassle, commission, post etc.....live on the Isle of Skye. All in all dont think I could have got much cheaper and was quite happy with the deal.
I know I could have got RS80'S cheaper (already looked down that one!) but was the Ksyriums I wanted.
    Thanks for the pedal advice.

not sure what the differences are between 2012 and 2013 wheelsets...but to me they look the same, got the same amount of marketing spill over them...

    maybe with slightly different decals

The 2013 model is a little lighter than the 2012 one.
  • Cool! I hope my 2013 weight is going to be a little lighter than my 2012 too. Now Ive decided to get back into it I know my wallet will be lol!

  • Thanks mate, im sure I will. Cant wait to get the miles piled in, its a lovely part of the world where I live with rolling hills and some good climbs practically on the doorstep. I should hopefully get some fitness quite quickly.
