Just finished my new bike. Since I've always liked steel frames I decided to to use an old (late 80's) Moser as the basis for the build.

A 1" full carbon fork, a second hand set of Kysrium SL's, and a Carbon Centaur group took the edge off the weight.

Haven't ridden it in anger yet but it seems decent so far. Weighs in at 8.17kg.

Wow. I really like that - nice job!

I have no idea what's going on here.
  • Cheers, no idea what kind of bottle cages would look good on a bike like this though. Molded carbon? Traditional Alloy? haven't a clue.

What's the score with a modern carbon fork and handlebar stem on a 1" steerer? are these available or are there conversion parts?

  • Nope. No conversion necessary. 1" threadless forks and headsets are readily available (getting full carbon one with a long enough steerer was tricky enough though). The only thing you need is a shim so that 1"1/8 stem will fit tightly to a 1" fork steerer.
