A quick one about brakes..

Evening all,
Apologies if this is a daft question...
Just changed the stock brake pads on my Triban for a set of Swiss stop ones. Problem is they seem significantly 'fatter' than the stock ones were when new. On the front there is no issue and I can just about adjust the brakes side to side to allow the wheel to spin freely. On the back wheel though I cannot get it to spin freely, it rubs against one rim or the other.
I have found a way around this though:
If I open the release switch thing (the one you twist when you want to take the wheel off - sorry don't know the proper name for it), then there is no rubbing and the brake seems to work fine. So basically I just wanted to check if there would be any issues if I rode with the 'switch' open, at least until the pads wore down a bit?
Thanks as always.

It'll be fine. Have you screwed the adjuster where the cable meets the brake arm in all the way?

Cheers for that video mate, very informative. They spin fine now with the switches shut. Added bonus - I now know how to adjust the brake cables Thanks again.0 -
It's a good skill to have as now, as your pads wear down, you can incrementally adjust the cables so that you're not having to pull the levers too far back.0
