Hi all, rather than take the conventional approach of going out and buying a good bike I ended up building one over the last 2 years. Made up of nearly new, and on the sale new Ive ended up with the following:
Giant SCR C2
SRAM RED full groupset inc 52/36 cranks and 11-26 cassette
Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL wheels (restickered)
Force/Attack 24mm/22mm tyres
Shimano long reach brakes (gutted I cant have RED)
Charge Knife saddle with Ti rails
FSA SL-K carbon seatpost and 90mm stem
NESS 42cm carbon bars
Hope bar ends and stem cap
K-edge garmin mount
Time i-clic carbon pedals
Dura-ace 10sp chain
Please excuse the taped on light, was a last minute addition this morning when I realised my cateye was dead.
So how did it end up at this point?
I started out with a Boardman 2010 Team Hybrid on C2W.
Then decided to sport it up a bit. So sprayed it white, fitted some prolite carbon forks, mavic aksiums, 105 brakes etc.
The bought a focus cayo carbon frame, moved most of the bits over and put the boardman back to standard (ish) to sell on. Got dropbars, shifters, dura-ace cranks etc for it.
Didnt get on with the focus so sold it (and most of the parts) and went back to the boardman. Built it up into a real nice fast hybrid. Added the SRAM Red cranks, Ksyrium Equipes, SRAM X0 shifters and rear mech etc. Ended up here:
Then I got the Giant frame and forks. So (again) swapped everything over and had a fast carbon hybrid bike
Natural evolution meant dropbars, SRAM Force shifters and rear mech, and of course, the carbones
And lastly ditched the Force, upped to RED and restickered the wheels. Added carbon bars and an SL-K stem. To bring us up to date
Hope you enjoyed the journey :P

The levers are set up incorrectly on the bars. The drops needs to be angled up about 15 degrees from horizontal and then move up the levers.
You'll have the same reach but you'll also gain something called "the drops" which coming from a straight bar, you'll love when you have a massive headwind.
The way you have it set up now there's no way you can get a comfortable wrist position when riding in the drops.
Have a look at the pix on Cannondale's website and you'll get the idea: http://www.cannondale.com/gbr/2013/bike ... kset-28415
I love your mix of the new Red levers, they're pieces of art and must feel great. When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
You certainly don't do things the conventional way Paul! Looking forward to seeing Giant out on the road0

Cool post, interesting to read your journey to all out roadie. Loving that Giant frame, both the colour and geometry, but that is a very deep drop! Nice job on those Carbones too, I have a pair of Elites on the way and now wondering if I shouldn't have gone even more aero after seeing yours close up!0

I had the cosmic elites beforehand mate but I got these at such a good price I couldnt say no!
On the road there is little difference really. Certainly not for a lardo like me0 -
Cheers, that's nice to know, i'm just hearing the siren song of those flashy rims though!0

Loved you post. I have recently bought a secondhand Giant OCR C2 which I am shortly going to transplant components from my Trek Alu frame which I in turn transplanted from my Roberts steel frame.
I am slightly limited in parts being 6ft 5ins and 17.5 stone.
Will start the project tomorrow.
Loved also how you integrated the colours.0
