Hi all

I was looking for some help from someone that has 7900 shifters. I have bought a new set from the classifieds on here, and on receiving the shifters the right hand (10 speed) lever doesn't 'click' when shifting up towards the smaller rings. Is this normal for these shifters? It makes a dull kind of grinding sound as if something isn't quite right.

The left lever clicks in both directions, and my Ultegra 6700 shifters click when shifting up on the rear, so I would have thought these would be the same.

Thanks guys.

  • OK, I've just tried it with a cable connected and just using my hand to provide tension on the cable. There is a bit more feedback doing this, but it's definitely not making a click......
  • it should click, but not as much feedback as the 7800
  • Thanks mate.

I don't have any experience of 7800 either so don't really have a reference. Should it click the same amount as when shifting down? With the cable in and some tension on it there is a dull click, but it's not the same as when shifting down. I get the feeling there's maybe too much/not enough grease somewhere.

the 7900 levers i ve got give a very positve click on down and up shifts.
  • Thanks for the help guys. It's going to be hard to tell if there's an issue without fitting it to the bike and hooking up the rear derailleur. I don't really want to do that until I hear back from the seller.
