I own a set of Altura pro gel waist shorts which arent bad at all as they have gel inserts in the chamois. Can you list some other bib shorts which are in the 50 quid ballpark and also have a good quality chamois pad which has gel inserts please.

many thanks

Santini do the Twist Gel and Gel Intech inserts on some of their bibs. You might be able to pick some up for ca. £50 in a sale but they tend to cost £60-70 from most places I've just checked.

I got some from decathlong yesterday with a gel insert in the pad, I'll be trying them properly this weekend but initial impressions are very very good. Even better, the full price is only £40, they're on sale at the moment for £17.

Ony issue is they're a bit over branded for my tastes. But meh, it's not a fashion show.

edit - You're looking for any shorts with a '7' in the title the '5's are ok too but a little stiff at first and no gel. I've got some MTB baggies with that one in and is comfy, I just don't do enough sit down miles on my MTB for a fair comparison.

Try prendas, they sometimes have some end of line Santini Gel shorts for around the £50 mark, just depends whether they have your size.

I've got a pair of old Assos shorts you can have for £50 if you like. I'm sure they would do wonders for your image.

    Hmm, odd.

Mine definitely say gel insert in the pad and after my ride this morning I'd say they were the comfiest shorts I've got. I don't have a huge amount to compare to though, but they're miles better that the basic shutt vr bibs and the nalini replica bibs.

Might have to try some of the progel ones next time.

    No need to boast ;)
    Is the gorilla tired yet?
  • Lusso do a set of gel bib shorts, pretty comfy but I prefer their normal pad I think...
