Bike for a friend - Genisis core 26.2 at £499, decent deal?

Do you think this is a good entry level bike for my friend. I know the Voodoo Hoodoo is better but he refuses to buy ANYTHING from Halfords due to a previous incident and the Decathlons are out of stock (same withe KHS ALite 2000). He won't go over £600 so do you think this will keep him happy? Any alternatives?....thanks.

Not sure how it stacks up against the 26.2 - looks a bit better to me but not 100% sure of the merits of the respective forks.0 -
I have the 2011 and really like it. Although mine came with a Tora, and i have not ridden the XC32.....0

XC32 is practically the same as a Tora.0

I have the 11 Core 30. It's an excellent bike and if you shop around its available for a good bit under 600.0
