9sp & 10sp "front" shifters - potential silly question.

Hiya,
I run 9sp rear, 3sp front.
CRC advertises some SLX shifters as the 10sp versions, and sells both the rear and the front, but surely for the FRONT left hand version that 10sp is irrelevant? It shifts 3 still so should be the same as if I bought the advertised 9sp front shifter?

This is one of those questions that seems so obvious you start second guessing yourself....

It will work fine.0

I believe that the reason they're sold as "x-speed" is because of tiny differences in the width of the deraileur cage (to mirror the tiny differences in the width of the chain itself) between the different numbers of gears.
As SS says, in real life it will work fine - I've run my 3x9 speed setup with 10-speed and 7-speed FDs with no problems.0 -
Word, cheers guys.0
