  • I never thought they were under the same umbrella so to speak.

I wouldn't ever go to that store again unless I knew exactly what I wanted and they were the cheapest. I went in there when looking to get my first bike and the guy in there said that the Allez and Secteur where exactly the same frames just different components. I said to the guy are you sure so he called another guy over who confirmed that they were the same frame.

The best way to shop in evans is with your mobile in your hand so you can surf and check prices there and then. They will price match the big names which normally means it will be one of the cheapest. You have the advantage of being able to try stuff on.

With some shops you get some clueless idiot, with others you get the intricacies of carbon laying explained.

They have different company registration numbers, so I suspect they are not part of the same company, but not being an expert in these matters, I don't really know!

They are linked as they accept the Evans R2W scheme so I assume that Evan's are just showing shops that they have links to. I thought that the Evans's scheme was only for Evan's own shops until today but I coincidently realized that my local shop (Beeline bikes in Oxford) is also affiliated to the Evan's scheme. Odd that the Hargroves Southampton, Fareham and Winchester stores aren't shown though.

Maybe it's more than that, but maybe not.
  • Hi,

Hargroves Cycles Swindon accepts Evans Cycles Ride2Work certificates. This enables Evans Ride2Work scheme customers in the Swindon area to have the convenience of a local store in the event they don’t wish to travel to Evans Cycles Bristol branch or use our mail order service.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Balint @ Evans Cycles
  • HI

Hargroves Cycles and Evans are not linked other than the ability to accept Evans Cycles vouchers at all Hargroves Cycles stores subject to the terms of the Evans Ride2Work scheme. We will have a look in to the listings of the stores - thanks :)

    Thanks - Rus, Hargroves Cycles

+1 with evans i allways do this:

Know what im going to buy/try on
    Look online before going in.
Take phone with websites pre-loaded with all the items i might buy/try
Find item i want and fits the best
Go to checkout show them phone with better price
Watch as they attempt to price match
Buy item if they do, walk out if they dont.
    Sorted
