handle bars and amount of rise

Hi all., I'm having a change with regards to my control set-up. I currently have 640 spesh low rise bars that came on my fsr xc pro teamed with a 105 mm stem with 16 degree rise. I'm finding that I'm too stretched out with this plus ai fancy some wider bars. I'm thinking 710 mm bars with s 70-80 mm stem. Question is what effect does a high/ low rise bar have on the positioning? Any other advantages to one over the other? Many thanks

The positioning is as you'd expect: is all personal preference. Higher rise place a little less weight on your hands, and will sit you more upright.0

As im seeing it sitting mote upright may hinder me slightly on the climbs but should allow me to push my weight further back on the descents? Especially with the shorter stem? One more thing with shorter stem will I still need the 16 degree rise or will the fact I'm more upright negate the need for this? I want to feel less stretched out for the descents but I don't want to end sitting like I'm on a router!0

There is an applet in the tech FAQ on stem rise and length. Have a play.0
