Bizarre pinch puncture ?

Out today around the local woods/tracks and did around 12 miles, however, just as I was heading for home, I got the strangest of pinch punctures :?
Heading up the middle of a smooth path, nothing in sight when BOOM ! Was like riding over a huge rock, gave a proper bang, then within 20 meters, the rear was flat :?
Now I know there was nothing on the path, and just no clear explanation for the pinch (as it was a pinch with two holes opposite each other)
Any ideas how or why this would just happen ??

something almost punctured the tubing but didnt, then the pressure on the weak spot gve in. or aliens did it. you choose.0

Quite common to get a bit of grit that makes its way into the rim over time if not cleaned outPain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

I'm guessing it was aliens afterall, as there appeared to have cast a spell over a mate also :roll:0
