Rebuilding a wheel

I'm thinking of getting new hubs and have read / watched quite a bit about how to replace spokes etc but one or two places have mentioned that you shouldn't / can't reuse rims and spokes with a new hub.
Is this the case - if so will need to rethink my plans!
Thanks

Rims should be ok but spoke length varies based on the hub and rim. About 2mm difference in length can be the absolute difference between being able to build or not. DT Swiss (and lots of other websites) have spoke length calculators.0

So assuming the hub is the same diameter, there is no structural reason for not reusing spokes / rims.
Will have a look at the spoke calculator-thanks.My Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time0 -
Yes - but the chances are minimal. See what the calculator says. Old spokes are better to use if they fit as will be stress relieved.
Why are you wanting to change though?0 -
Changing as the current hubs have worn out (bearings worn) and I've done most other bits on the bike and would like to have a go at wheels at some point. My Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time0
