Hi guy's
I'm looking for a new road helmet for my slightly oval and egg shaped head. My head has a bit of a ridge running down the middle of it and my Met Forte is just not that great.
As well as my shape of head, the retention system on the met is horrible (awkward to turn).
I have around £130 to spend + I don't want the helmet to look rediculously big either.

Ideally, go to a shop with a good range of brands and models and try them out for fit and size. Everyone's head is slightly different so trying them for yourself is the best option.0

My LBS only stocks specialized and a few carrera helmets, and Met which I would like to avoid.
Tried on a carrera radius and it felt fairly nice but you don't hear much about them.0 -
I have a mahoosive head which is also slightly oval. I find that Giro helmets are the best for me.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

It sounds as though you need to cycle to a very big cycle shop or two and try on all their helmets. Designs sometimes have extra pads that can be stuck in to adjust the fit, I presume these are usually the cheaper ones. perhaps sticky pads could bought separately and stuck under the standard inserts.
I use a met predatore helmet in an unusually large size because a normal helmet fits only just at maximum .
here is a modern one that comes as extra-large:

Hi Adam,
A Giro Monza should do it! They're good for that shape of head. The retention system is easily adjusted even whilst riding and is very comfortable. About 90 quid I seem to remember.

+1
My head is larger front-back than is standard judging by most helmet fits, so I found that Giro Monza suited me best and I used the little blue foam pads at the side to ensure a snug fit.0 -
All these posts about odd shaped heads is making me feel much better
I'm also noting the replys :oops:0 -

I've decided that I'm going to order from wiggle a kask mojito and if that doesn't fit right I will send it back and try a giro monza... Cheers for the advice guys...0

Ordered a 2012 Bell Lumen today, hopefully it will fit my huge oval shaped head. It's like Sputnik! As the film says.
The large is up to 63cm. Most "large" sizes are only up to 61cm. Call that large?
The above recommendations will be handy if it doesn't fit.0 -
