The clipless pedal Del-boy thread has inspired me to start a thread on what disasters have befallen you on a ride not related to failing to unclip in time.

For your all round amusement I did my first century ride on the 30th December 2012 cycling from Cardiff to Bristol and back. When crossing the Severn Bridge at Chepstow for the first time I stopped to take a picture of the bridge so I could start a photographic record of the journey. I took my iphone out of my back pocket, fumbled it with my cold wet fingers, on reflex tried to catch it and instead batted my iphone over the edge of the bridge and into the pits of oblivion below!
