Hello,
I have a pare of Oakley O frame goggles i use for biking. I was wondering if i could say a few pennies and use these lenses for skiing?

Also here on crc

Is the dual venting the only difference between the skiing and bike ones?
Thanks

You should be ok - the dual layer on the persimmon lenses are designed to fog less than their MX counterparts.
That (and the protection against snowblindness) are the only differences.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

My next question is does nay one know if those two lenses are the same?
The surfdome ones at £17.99 say snowboard O frames, are these the same as the MX frames?
Thanks for the help0 -
Doesn't matter found a pair labeled MX for cheaper.

I would double check. I'm concerned that those ones are just MX lenses, hence the cheaper price.
The snowboard specific ones have additional UVA/UVB filters that will prevent you getting snowblindness. It doesn't say anything in the description about the filters.
Update - the ones in the last link are MX specific. Don't use them for snowboarding.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, the mx ones provide 100UV protection, is that no sufficient for snow conditions?0

Thanks for the help so far bit clueless about skining,
Snow ones: http://uk.oakley.com/products/1652/5554
Mx ones : http://uk.oakley.com/products/2050/22126
Both descriptions just mention 100% UV protection.0 -
Ok - spoke to a mate of mine who works for a snowboard distributor.
He reckons that you will be ok with the mx lens at a pinch (using it short-term), but would go for the snowboard ones if you have a choice.
(Reckons that fogging will be an issue if you get hot/stop a lot, as the mx frame isn't padded with the same material as on the snowboard version. Single layer to the lens also means that it changes temperature faster, meaning quicker fogging.)2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

Thanks, because the mx ones are cheap ill go for them. If they fog up while out there I'll hire some for a few days. Worst comes to worst iv got some tinted lenses for DH.
Thanks a lot, it's very much appreciated.0 -
Just in case any one is interested i got this reply from Oakley:
"The O Frame snow lenses will fit into your MX O Frame goggles and will be the best lenses for skiing. These are lenses at your second link - http://uk.oakley.com/products/1652/5554 There a few different colours to choose from and they will fit the frames you have no problem."0
