Buying pedals with toe straps..?

I've been looking at buying a new road bike (my first sort of proper one) and have found a Raleigh AIRlite 300 2012 for about £500. My previous (very cheap) road bike had no shoe clips, but toe straps and I got used to using them. I'd want pedals with straps as most of the time it would be impractical to have to use the special shoes, although it'd be nice if the pedals also had the option of using clips when I'm doing long distance rides on the weekend. Please share as much info and advice as you have thanks!

Condor Cycles in Holborn, London sell toe straps and I'm sure they can fix you up with a suitable pair of matching pedals - extremely good shop.
