I looked at the stats for last year and the most popular posts for my blog, which is really about long bike rides, were mostly equipment reviews

People like shiney bikes

Maybe they see you as a truly unbiased reviewer? (I'm assuming you don't get any kick backs from Specialized etc?? ;-))

BTW - how is that Roubaix working out for you? It's currently my planned "next bike" mainly because my Secteur is ticking so many boxes at the moment.

Being the cynic, no-one is unbiased. We all have our preferences, that's quite natural.
  • Most bike reviews are pretty laughable IMO, they invariably go something like this:

    1) The bike is very good and rides like a much more expensive model
    2) You'll need to upgrade the wheels because they "dont spin up" fast enough
    3) The end.

So to see reviews that actually talk about the features of the bike is quite refreshing.

I kind of meant you aren't linked in any way to the manufacturers. I do wonder if bike mags fear to give a bike a crap review if it means that manufacturer wont give them free stuff to review in future.

It probably reflect your search traffic, rather anything specific. The more congested a search term the less likely you are to generate traffic to a small site. The more specialist, the more traffic you will get.

The Roubaix is fine. TBH I've not ridden it since September because my other bike has better mudguards and bigger tyres

As for the bias in the reviews etc, they are biased in the following way: I am just an ordinary bike rider. I only buy a bike every other year. I only "test ride" bikes rarely. So any comparisons will be limited and not as broadly based as a specialist bike reviewer might have.
