I've currently got a Sram Red(black) 34-50t set up on the compact chainset. However I was curious to know if I could use a 36t inner with the 50t? Sram seem to suggest that their 52-36t is the set up option to use.

  • 50/34, 50/36, 50/38....the choice is yours on the inner. I run a 50/40, no other changes are needed, no adjustments, just fit your inner and ride.
If like me your terrain is flatish, a 34 is a waste of time, hence my 40 option.
Aftermarket chainrings (Stronglight for example) are good, they last well, the only thing may be they won't colour match your existing chainset, only maybe.
  • Cheers for that, I live in west yorkshire so it's either pointing the bike uphill or downhill and very little flat terrain to be found!
Sram do a 36t inner so i might see if they do one in the red(black) option.
