Hello, just looking some advice from a fellow owner or someone with experience . I've got a 2010 carrera fury (the White one) with a worn out headset. I've been looking at a few online but there seems to be so many different types, sizes etc,so can anyone help me out with what I need please.

Semi-integrated otherwise known as zero stack (although it isn't - it's just low stack compared to external!) Halfords sell an FSA one which is a bit heavy but VERY robust - cost about £17.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

This is the one that The Beginner is talking about: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_210157
FSA No.110 -
Or just replace the bearings. If you can find any.0

The Superstar zero stack headset is decent too. I think there's 10% of them or something at the moment too.0

you can replace the bearings, just fit twice as many and remove the cage. I usually do that.0

Thanks for all the advice guys. Just reserved the fsa one on at halfords with a free can of gt85 so not too bad. Are they easy enough to remove and refit ? Thanks again.0

The bearings usually will prise out. Some are simply a standard caged bearing with a seal on it.
But to fit a new headset you need to remove the old cups and press in the new ones.0 -
Take it to a shop (not Halfords) and get it fitted. Unless it's the same as the original headset then you can just fit the new bearings in the old cups.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

To reiterate, the Fury uses a semi cartridge, it is one piece from steerer to frame, NOTHING can be changed individually..... Think of it like a cartridge bearing where there is no carrier, it fits directly into the frame and to the crown race and wedge.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I have got the bearings out of one before!0

Not this one you won't....absolute guarentee, the outer race is steel and also fits direct into the frame, the bearings are roller and have a robust cage and then the inner race is steel as well....I'll get a photo later.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
