  • They are a pain to fit. Got the back one done (eventually) and it's been fine, just requires the odd lift now and again.

The front one took ages and still wouldn't stop rubbing. I eventually gave up and found it didn't have the clearance (should be able to fit them if you can pass a 4mm hex key through and I can't). The back one stops me getting covered in muck and I've not noticed much coming from the front.

A little disappointed the bike shop didn't tell me they wouldn't fit though.

I bought the bike there and asked about what mudguards I could use and the bike shop suggested these and said they would fit. It's got 700x23 tyres. It rubs on the top of the tyre right under the fork. I've fiddled with it but the clearance is just too tight (need another 3-4mm clearance). Might be the depth/width of the carbon fork that's fitted, as delivered.

I had v1 crud's and they were OK but I snapped the rear, replaced with v2's as soon as they were out. They've lasted me until just recently but not the bit where the cable tie goes around the brake bolt to suspend the guard up has worn through (I probably should have adjusted it again sooner :p ) so the guard sits on the tyre and rubs. It doesn't really annoy me but I'm going to change them for SKS Race Blade Longs to see if they're any better (if not I'll go back to cruds). I'm hoping the SKS are as easy to fit and set-up as the Cruds were though (I had the normal Race Blades prior to the Cruds and they are the work of the devil, not too difficult to set up but would move about and start rubbing shortly into a ride - the draft excluder bit on Cruds is the genius idea that solves this)

can you grab a pic? you dont need much clearance at all in there.

I'll try when I get home.

If the link works this shows the closest look at the clearance (or lack of). Unfortunately it also shows the dirt that I need to clean (4 rides without a clean leaves a mess).
