New Riser Bars

I have decided to use some of my xmas dosh to buy a new set of bars. The ones I have at the moment are some oldish Truvantiv Carbon Stylo ones 660mm 25mm rise. I have never really got on with shape and am after something closer to the EA70 bars I used to have on my old bike. I would like something wider with less rise and so far I have picked out these two
Stick with what you know http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=92891
And something different http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=66072
Now I have not looked at things like bars for a long time so don't really have a handle on what is good at the moment, anyone got any other recommendations ?

The answer pro tapers are all the bars you'll ever need, and at that price buy them twice.0

I just got some EC70 bars for £50 which are the same as the EA70 bars but carbon, low rise and 685mm0

I really like all the Answer Pro Taper bars a lot, if they have a colour you like I would go for it. Watch out for the Expert versions though because they are the really heavy ones made out of different alloy0

What rise are you after? The Eastons are usually 20mm, so only 5mm less than what you have.
These are good flat bars:

I want some to replace the standard ones on my Camber expert 2011
I want them a bit wider as I find it more comfortable to hold the bars right on the ends, also maybe a bit more of a rise than the standard ones although I am not sure what the rise is on the standard onesSpecialized Camber Expert

A little less rise than I have ATM would be good, although the rise on the truvantiv seems more than it says as they have quite a lot of up sweep. I held and EA70 low rise in the shop today and it felt a lot more comfortable in my hand. The Answer bar seems to have very similar figures. Not sure I want another carbon bar, I know its stupid but I have never quite "trusted it" and would prefer something that bends before it breaks :roll:0 -
These are the bars I have ATM http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/handlebars/mountain/product/review-truvativ-team-carbon-bar-243350

How many spacers do you have on your fork steerer? Any tuning potential there?0
-
Non unfortunately. A little less would help with the steep climbs, rise is not the biggest factor its more the up and back sweep, they have quite a lot and I would prefer a bit more width. So far the Answer bar is looking the better bet.
The bike originally had these on http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/handlebars/mountain/product/review-truvativ-xc-dh-team-riserbar-24319 so I did a straight swap when I discovered whatwrist bruisingly stiff0 -

The Crank borthers Cobalt 3 looks quite good as well, is it 680mm or 700mm there seem to be some confusion on specs ?

Thanks hainman depending on how much money I spend else where I might have to get back to you on that0 -

Been jotting down the specs of the bars
EA70 5 Degree up sweep 9 back, 20mm rise 685mm 265gr
Answer Pro Taper 685 XC 4 Degree up sweep 8 back, 12.7mm rise 685mm 265gr
Crank Brothers Cobalt 3 XC 5 Degree up sweep 6 back, 15mm rise 700mm 230gr
The answer has the lowest rise and is very close to the shape I like, the cobalt is wider but a different shape and the lightest and of course the most expensive.0 -
My Easton EC70 came yesterday, same spec as the EA70 but in carbon, weight is 158g0

I think I have found the ebay vender selling the EC70's interesting
A bit more research has turned up these Spank Oozy Bars,
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=65137
And These
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=65136
These look to be ideal and I could suffer white bars to get the LTD version, only thing is I can't find any info on up and back sweep even on their website. Any one have these or know what the figures are ?0 -
Schellpel I've sent you a PM0

Thanks for that.
I went for a ride today and payed attention to where my hands where on the bars. If found that they where hanging over the edge of the bars so wider bars needed then lol
I like the look of the spanks, they are 700mm and come in a 15mm rise. The question is white or black ? everything else on my bike is black ! but the white Oozy LTD on sale are £5 less than the standard oozy. I also found out that the upsweep is 4 and 8 back.0 -
Problem is if you buy the white ones it will end up costing more as you'll end up buying something else to match0

There are white bits on my saddle and the grips where white once lol :-)0
