Add disk ?

Hi guys,
This is my first post, so please excuse me if I have missed anything or am in the wrong section :P
I have got a DiamondBack Overdrive FX 2011 Hard tail Mountain Bike, admittedly nothing special, but I cant afford a new one at the moment because I have just bought a Giant Defy 1 for traveling to work etc.
What I want to do is two things,
Firstly, Add a disk break to the rear of the bike, the standard V-break is nowhere near as good as the front disk when the going gets muddy! Is this possible to do? how easily and how much?
Second, Is it worth a new, slightly softer, set of suspension forks? considering the bike will be used for very little on road use because that's what the Defy is for
Thanks in advanced

Does your frame have a disc mount, and is the wheel disc ready? What is your budget? What is the existing fork?0

I think this is the exact same one here:

Should provide more information that I cant remember
As for the disk, I think an adaptor would be in order, there are no screw holes for the caliper on the frame
My budget is dependant on the gain, because I am just getting into MTB I am not experienced enough to know what will do what.0 -
I wouldn't bother to be honest. by the time you have got a new wheel, the adaptor and the disc brake, plus a new fork, you might as well have bought a new bike. Just not worth upgrading.0

Cheers for the advice!
Might save up for a Giant Talon or Trance, when money is slightly less scarce0 -
If you don't have disc mount tabs on the frame and rotor mounts on the hub, as super said, it's just not worth the expense.0

all i would do with that bike is upgrade the rear brake. spend about £20 and get a Deore V or similar. that will see you through the winter and you can save for a better specced ride.0

Not true, the A2Z adaptor will fit most frames, but it's another £20 on top of all the other costs....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Be better off upgrading the front to a decent hydraulic disc brake?0

the rear brake isn't overly useful or effective anyway.0
