@ secteur ... Well done for an honest appraisal of your situation. Most are in complete denial. First step

It doesnt sound patronising at all!
My (low) mood seems to be extricably linked to my cyclical poor dietary habits.
When i'm down, i will comfort eat, and a vicious cycle begins.
When i'm happier, i cycle more, diet more, lose weight and feel better - a positive cycle begins.
Negative cycles are usually triggered by going on holiday where i find it impossibly hard not to "cheat" and i usually come back at least 2kg (usually more) heavier.
I have modest will power, but when i'm fed up on a cold, rainy, dark evening, hungry from a days dieting and frustrated at lack of exercise of i havent been able to get out, then it's so easy to reach for the "treat cupboard!"0 -

4-5kg heavier than last ride also.
Today was painful, especially since I ride in a very hilly area.
Lungs burn, taste of blood!, wheezy, legs like lead...
How is it possible to lose so much fitness so fast?!!
I recall having 10 or so weeks off the bike earlier in the year following a broken scaphoid + having it screwed back together, and it took a good month to get back to anywhere near my previous form!
I dont like the sound of that, im starting my training again this monday and its been a good 8 weeks sinse my last proper ride bar commutes to and from work......this is going to be a week of hell :twisted:London2Brighton Challange 100k!

A chocolate biscuit (about 80) and a bit of bread and jam (another 120) is 450. Even a small latte from Starbucks is 200 calories.
So that's 650 a day without even trying. Add to that (or some variant of that) the calories you're not burning if you suddenly stop exercising, a 750 calorie per day surplus would be p1ss easy to achieve.
I could do an extra 750 without even thinking, just one extra of my favorite- a lard sandwich with curry powder would see that measly figure off easy! Down one o' them babies & you'll do an extra hour at least in the saddle!!B'TWIN Triban 5A

I am off this Sunday for my first proper ride of 2013, due to having had a stomach bug the last 2 weeks. I am excited and nervous at the same time.
Let it be the first of many many miles, my target is at least 2013 without factoring commuting in.0
