Bryton 35 Failure

Anyone else had their Bryton 35 ruined by rain. They are supposed to be IPX7. I have had it drying out in aring cupboard, but a still have a blank screen. Although it is over a year old, I'll try and send it back and see what happens.

I have to say that I have been less than impressed with the waterproof abilities of Bryton. IPX7 is supposed to be able to withstand complete immersion to a depth of 1 meter for 30 mins, I went out the other week and got pretty wet in rain on a 65 miler...but I have been out riding in a damn sight worse conditions last summer. When I checked my Bryton 20 the next day it had a fogged screen so I had to wait a day or so for it to clear. It all works ok now but it does make me wonder if the unit will stand up to some of the hard rain we will have when I am out all day in the summer.

What is worse is that the cadence sensor is only IPX6 (splashproof) and the chances of it getting very wet must be much higher given its low location. Ho hum. If the units ever get written off then it's Garmin next time around.

They certainly do seem to fog though not in my experience enough to not be useable. That said, I've covered probably about 15,000 miles with different Bryton units in all weathers on a daily basis and not had any failures yet. The main problem I've had is that the rubber coating on the buttons on the 30/35 eventually failed - though I've kept the unit working by covering the buttons with insulation tape. I suspect this is one reason why they changed the button design on the 20 and 40.

The cadence sensor has also been out in all weathers and been fine - though the bike that gets used in the rain does have Cruds on it.
