Indulgent Christmas Day?

So, having no doubt risen with the lark at dawn accompanied with loud squeals of delight from my 2 daughters as they rip through another set of lovingly wrapped presents with gay abandon, my plan for tomorrow is the usual indulgent treat on Chrimbo of a relaxed breakfast...and then a couple of hours out enjoying the quiet roads with the odd festive nod of bonhomie to/from other road users (not that there will be many). I might even don the odd Xmas bike-related present (which there had better be or santa will be somewhat frugal in his gift to Mrs Bobbinogs).

Any one else planning something wickedly indulgent, a ride out or something else perhaps? I don't count spending one hour on the turbo due to flooded roads as a Christmas treat, btw

Turkey will take 4h20m to cook, so plenty of time to get out on the bike. Ideally out into the Ashdown Forest. :D
  • Yup, I'll be cracking the port open in the morning!!

looks like it may actually run out of rain in Bristol tomorrow so hoping to do a nice easy ride. There were quite a few out last year. might have to modify route as some of the back lanes will be under water but main roads should be fairly quiet
  • You are lucky my misses would kill me if I went out tomorrow. So getting out later this afternoon then Boxing Day  so in theory get more time on the bike!
  • As above, if I even look at my bike tomorrow I will be in a whole world of pain. Been out this morning, wet and horrible but worth it. Out again on Boxing Day, riding 40 miles to the in-laws for lunch. Hopefully with a new Garmin attached!

Its looking like it might hail tomorrow so I'll treat myself so some sufferfest on the turbo to work up an appetite.

Lovely looking route, hopefully it will be a bit drier up north than is now predicted for the SW. New Garmins and Powertaps, I dunno, I am beginning to think I undersold myself by asking for some new Prendas socks :)

Hope to get out tomorrow. Weather forecast says it might be as much as 11 degrees, however it looks like it might rain quite a lot so will have to wait and see. Love cycling but dont wanna go out and get soaked on Xmas day.

I'm going down to Dorking for Christmas Day so weather permitting I can get a few circuits of the Olympic Box Hill lap in before the gluttony starts. Hope there is room for bike and presents in the car!

I shall spend the day clearing up after the kids - setting up various iphones and ipods - new computers and laptops - then I shall be cooking a major dinner / lunch during which I will take time out to help build lego. Then it will be clearing up and then, just maybe then, I will get to sneak out into the garage and fix my Garmin 800 onto the bike :)

Christmas is about giving (mostly of my time) - I will worry about going for a ride on the 27th.

Craggy Island for me! A bishop and a priest will be at our Christmas dinner, by late afternoon you could be sitting on the set of Father Ted, thank "god" that it only occurs every other year.
A 10yr old bottle of Ardbeg, an atheist, a Bishop and a priest...... What more could you ask for on Christmas day?

i'm going to pop on the turbo for an hour i think, need to drive to the parents so no time for a proper ride and that's better than nothing :)

Went out for 3 hours today so highly unlikely to get a pass for tomorrow. I might push my luck and try an hour on the turbo or its Boxing Day for me. I might just have dried off by that point, had an hour of torrential rain and one road that was so flooded the bike needed carrying across today.
  • My Mrs has just told that me that "if I want to go out for a ride tomorrow morning that's fine". This is a test isn't it?

Further to the above, the weather forecast now gives rain all day and wind speed 6. Think i,ll give it a miss. But for all those who brave the elements wherever you may be have a good ride out and merry Xmas.

...but it's my birthday today and I deserved a cycle, specially in my new Body Paint shorts :)

Managed to get a lovely hour in after having to wait for torrential rain to stop, roasties will be ready soon so I'm off to fill my boots!
