the tide mark on the front forks was 21" high. :shock:

(yes I've lubed everything and the disc brakes STILL worked great)

Classic! Had a good old laugh at that. I honestly thought your natural bouyancy would take over at one point and you'd be swimming. Did you feel it getting light at any time?

35c Marathon plus - the 28c 4 seasons weren't cutting it on the off road bits and frost,

Sprayed with GT85 - going to give them a proper strip down and clean this afternoon

Actually I really struggled at the deepest bit. I was REALLY glad I'd prepped properly and dropped it to the 34 ring. I had to get out the saddle to push through in the middle. I didn't dare change gear in case it slipped out and I stopped.

I often go down both of those roads as a way of extending my commute to kegworth glad i didn't this week.

There was a photo in the Telegraph in October or November of a road bike and just the bars and stem are visible (Ok saddle and seatpost would be but are hidden by the riders legs)....so you've got a way to go yet KB! 21" would put the BB about 10" underwater!

I think its awesome that your entire village came out to worship their God of rain and flood.

Awesome video that, as always you manage to capture the silly but pure essence of cycling. Even I found myself wanting to have a go... The London based camera crusaders - who do nothing but complain - could learn much from you.

UE - you try cycling through water that deep. It was HARD work, and I didn't turn back the 2nd time (did you watch to the end?)

Went out for a little spin this afternoon to see how the Thames was doing.
The road from Playhatch to Sonning is well flooded in a few places, with the water flowing quite swiftly across the road in one ! I managed to get through OK, though there were some impatient car drivers who gave another less fortunate cyclist the benefit of their bow waves :evil:

The wettest I got all day was setting up the bike for this photo, as I had to put my feet down:


There's normally a clearly-defined river there, then some grass, then the cycle path - not today ! The bollards on the top left mark where the edge normally is !
