shimano shifters

In need of a new left hand 10 speed double shifter (had an off today and both shifters ruined - a club mate has given me a replacement righthand shifter, so just need a left).

The groupset was shimano 105, the righthand shifter i have been given is ultegra 6600.
Does anyone know if any shimano double shifter will work? Or does it have to match the right shifter series?

    You can use any series shifter - but want to keep to similar shape as mounting position on the bars can vary
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
