  • Yes I have heard this about other sports as well. There is something very primeval about all this, I saw a similar thing about fishing believe it or not. It is the process of the activity which seems to do something to us.

    It's interesting to hear about some of the science behind this having read this recent article by Rob Penn, which raises some of these issues, and having often thought about why cycling seems to be so good for my own state of mind.

    The Rob Penn article is good - except for the repeated implication that you get knocked off every other day...
  • A bit of a drama queen, or is he trying to prove how hard he is? More likely a typical journo' trying to write 'exciting' copy. I must be getting cynical in my old age! everyone seems to try and make everything dramatic, can't jut be matter of fact - more worrying is that he 'empties his mind' when cycling, perhaps he should concentrate more?
