Hi,

I'm planning on cycling from home in Rotherham to Alicante in Spain next year, I've been searching for a web based cycling auto rote type planner to no avail, I was hoping to type in Calais to Alicante and get a route planned.

Has anybody got a route they know of or know a route planner.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

  • not sure which route planner you used but viamichelin has a fairly decent reputation.

On the road, I'm a fan of the spiral-bound Michelin road atlas (1:200,000). http://www.stanfords.co.uk/Home/Product ... 182417.htm Read some guidebooks and choose some interesting places along the way then play join the dots. Roughly plan your route, tear out the pages you need then do the detailed planning as you go. I try to avoid cities because they are a pain to navigate through/across.

Big decisions - go to Paris or avoid? Where do you cross the Pyrenees?

If I was going to Calais I'd make sure I included some Paris/Roubaix cobbles (probably Arenberg Trench).
  • Thanks for that I'll take a look.
